Carmel North
Carmel graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2019. She holds general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi).
She practices from a neurodiversity-affirming, collaborative, and client-centred approach. In therapy, she prioritizes making each client feel safe and accepted to express their true selves throughout the process. Carmel has worked alongside clients whose treatment goals have included managing: anxiety, depression, grief and loss, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationships, life changes, motivation, self-esteem, behaviour change, and emotional regulation. Carmel enjoys working with adolescent and adult clients. She has particular interests working with anxiety, OCD, and women’s mental health issues. She enjoys working with clients from diverse backgrounds and incorporating individual’s world views into the therapeutic process. She draws from multiple evidence-based therapeutic modalities, primarily using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Schema Therapy. She has experience completing various assessments including those for mood disorders, cognitive function, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Carmel enjoys supporting people to cope with the challenges of life in a way that aligns with their values, harnesses their strengths, and evokes joy.
